Default Strategy Reform

Hello all,

I have been noticing that for a while now, we play to defensive. Not to say that defending is a bad thing, but we do it too much. If we are going to be successful, we will need to start putting the pressure on our opponents sooner and more often. If anyone feels a way we can do this, I am open to suggestions, I feel it would be wise of us all to review this website on our more favorite factions. This will let us analyze certain units specific strengths and weaknesses.

I feel I learned some interesting information about certain units.

On a last note.

I am pleased to see many new faces in our Sup Com division of our clan since we started playing again.

Default Fast attack...

A Blitzkrieg, or "Lightning War" begins with a bombardment, then a pinpoint concentrated assault on a small portion of a defensive line utilizing fast-moving mechanized/armored assets occurs. The opposing force is usually too slow to react before the faster attacking force has penetrated to the undefended rear.

In SupCom, a Blitzkrieg is a way to punch a hole in enemy defenses and flood in its less defended back.

To pull it off, the player needs strong, fast units and especially to keep momentum.

Phase 1 of a Blitzkrieg assault begins with an indirect fire bombardment (by air or artillery) focused on a single spot to maximize damage dealt in the shortest time frame possible. A good trick is to issue the Hold Fire command, define attack orders, and then cancel Hold Fire for all units at once.

Phase 2 starts as soon as the weak point - a turreted wall, a firebase, an opposing army - is destoyed. Fast, heavily armored units pour into the breach and keep moving until they get to their intended targets, that can be enemy resource facilities, factories, or Commanders. Units best suited for the job are T3 Siege Bots, especially UEF Titans, as they are both relatively fast and heavily armored. A good, cheaper and faster-moving second choice are T2 Heavy Tanks, and for Cybrans, Mantis Heavy Assault Bots.

Phase 3 would deal with keeping the breach open: heavy, resistant units can cope with a counterattack, and a flock of Engineers following can easily set up a small Firebase to help defending the breach.

Default Excelent Point

That is a very good strategy to work on Exterior, I wanted to point out that using t3 titans are a great idea. However, if we are looking for a early game t1, we would need Mantis, for a fast moving attack. Another thing that I would recommend, is once the units are past the defensive barrier spread them out. Getting the units spread out is a great way to do more spread out damage to more vulnerable locations. In return makes the units less vulnerable from AoE attacks, such as artillery which does splash damage. Let us remember the key to rushing is attacking early.

Default The Megalith

Here is some great information on the megalith. As we know it is a beast of a unit.

http://supcom.wikia.com/wiki/Cybran_...mental_Megabot

the one point I would like to point out is that the Megabot, as the article suggests, is it is great for making a naval beach head. So for a late game tactic for breaking enemy shores, a Mega would do the trick better than any other unit I think.

Default How do we counter a Blitzkrieg?

I just thought I would toss up the idea of formulating a way to counter this strategy. The reason I say about countering it is so we know how our opponents would counter our main attack, as well as be able to counter it ourselves while pressing our attacks without stretching ourselves thin. So, if anyone has any great ideas in mind feel free to submit them.

I think what we need to get bettter with, especially me is get my t1 spam into t2 without stopping spam entirely

like say you build 5 t1 factories
get 1 going t2 while others are spamming t1
as soon as that hits t2 get that spamng t2, while another is going t2 and the others spam t1 still
